AUSTIN, Texas (WFAA/CNN/CNN Newsource/WKRC) — A start-up has unveiled “Campus Guardian Angel” drones designed to enhance school safety.

An Austin-based start-up, Campus Guardian Angel, is introducing drones designed to protect students and assist first responders during school shootings.

These drones, small enough to fit in a backpack, are equipped with cameras, metal tips to shatter glass, and pepper ball guns.

The company stated that the drones can fly up to 100 miles per hour and have the capability to crash into a suspect with enough force to knock them down.

According to the company, the drones can reach a shooter’s location within 15 seconds, providing critical time before police arrive.

Several North Texas departments are already testing similar programs, with drones acting as first responders.
