Stop & Shop officials say the 10% discount will be available through Thursday, October 22, giving customers additional time to take advantage of the offer.
GLASTONBURY, Connecticut — Stop & Shop customers are giving mixed reviews to the grocery chain’s 10% discount offer, announced as an apology following a recent cybersecurity incident that disrupted its website, mobile app and online services.
The outage was announced last Friday, leaving customers unable to access certain online features. While some shoppers say the discount was automatically applied to their purchases, others say they struggled to find the savings or were unaware of how to redeem the offer.
Customers attempting to access Stop & Shop’s website are prompted with a message stating that the company’s website and app are currently unavailable as officials work to restore service.
According to a statement shared on social media, Stop & Shop and other brands under the same parent company are also experiencing major disruptions to their websites, mobile apps and online services.
The company said the issue is affecting online operations, while all Stop & Shop stores remain open as usual.

As the disruption continues, the grocery chain is offering customers a 10% in-store discount.
Jeffrey Delaire, of Windsor, says he relies on the Stop & Shop website for grocery shopping and tracking gas rewards points.
“I rely on the website for gas points and shopping, and it’s a little inconvenient. But what can we do?” Delaire said.
Other customers who declined to be identified said they visited different Stop & Shop locations hoping to receive the discount automatically at checkout. They said they were not notified about the process for accessing the savings.
In an additional social media post, company officials said the discount offer would be extended and encouraged customers to check with in-store savings stations to have the discount applied.
Despite the inconvenience, Delaire says he appreciates the opportunity to save money, especially as grocery and fuel costs continue to affect people’s budgets.
“Anything helps. Ten percent off. Anything helps,” Delaire said.
He also noted that he typically uses his gas rewards to save money at the pump.
Stop & Shop officials say the 10% discount will be available through Thursday, October 22, giving customers additional time to take advantage of the offer.
