SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) – A ‘cybersecurity issue’ has forced grocery chains Stop & Shop and Hannaford to take their web services offline Tuesday.
The chains are both owned by parent company Ahold Delhaize USA.
“Stop & Shop is experiencing a security issue with our network, and we have proactively taken some systems offline to help protect the,” a spokesperson with the store said in a statement. “As a result, our website and app are not available at this time – but we are working as quickly as possible to restore them.”
Stop & Shop stores, pharmacies, and fuel stations have remained opened during their normal hours. In addition, the store says it’s refunding any unfulfilled orders placed on the website or in the store’s app.
Ahold Delhaize says there’s currently no evidence customer or employee data was taken.
