SUMMERVILLE, S.C. (WCSC) — A Summerville man who deputies are calling an “online predator” is now facing charges after he was allegedly involved with a runaway child from Lexington County.
Quintero Rolando Eugene Felder, 20, of Summerville, is charged with one count of criminal sexual conduct with a minor in the second degree, one count of sexual exploitation of a minor in the first degree and one count of sexual exploitation of a minor in the third degree. Detectives announced Thursday that they made the arrest May 14, two weeks ago.
Detectives with the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office said Felder is facing these charges after the Lexington County Sheriff’s Office reached out regarding a minor who they believed to be somewhere in Dorchester County.
Deputies managed to safely locate the child. During the course of the investigation, detectives said they discovered the minor had met Felder online and that he picked the child up in the early hours of the morning on May 8.
Felder’s home was also searched and a “thorough” investigation was conducted.
Dorchester County Sheriff Sam Richardson expressed appreciation for the coordination between his agency and Lexington County’s.
“This case highlights the importance of teamwork and collaboration between law enforcement agencies when it comes to protecting our children,” Richardson said. “Through the strong partnership between the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office and the Lexington County Sheriff’s Office, we were able to quickly locate the juvenile and hold an alleged sexual predator accountable. We remain committed to pursuing those who prey on minors and ensuring they are brought to justice.”
The investigation is active. As such, Lexington County authorities are expected to bring additional charges against Felder.
Felder was last being held in the L.C. Knight Detention Center on a $500,000 bond. If he does post bail, he will be subject to mandatory GPS monitoring.
