New bipartisan legislation would bar technology companies from collecting reimbursements from law enforcement officials seeking data related to child exploitation.

Sens. James Lankford (R-Okla.) and Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) on Wednesday will introduce the Protecting Children Over Profits Act, Bloomberg Government learned exclusively. The bill would apply to any electronic service where users can exchange messages.
