Students at Halifax County High School got an interactive lesson in cybersecurity on Tuesday as the Teneo Group brought its Pink Bus to the school.

The mobile program gives students an opportunity to learn about cybersecurity through interactive, game-based activities.

Students receive a login and move through different levels that allow them to explore cybersecurity concepts and identify areas they may be naturally good at.

While students may not complete every level during their visit, they can keep their login information and use what they learned to explore future career opportunities in cybersecurity.

Kimberly Warnagiris, a cybersecurity adviser with the Teneo Group, said it is important for students to understand the role cybersecurity plays in protecting personal information and organizations.

“It’s really important to make sure people are aware of what cybersecurity is,” Warnagiris said.

Warnagiris said cybersecurity helps protect people’s data as well as organizations, cities and governments.

The Pink Bus rotated small groups of students on and off throughout the school day for cybersecurity sessions.

Students will also be able to continue learning about cybersecurity during Halifax County High School’s Innovation Night from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
