This Guy Is Hacking Fujifilm Cameras — From New Film Simulations to Running DOOM | #hacking | #cybersecurity | #infosec | #comptia | #pentest | #hacker

Fellow Fujifilm X Shooter justice-jake is working on custom firmware for older Fujifilm cameras, potentially bringing new features to bodies that no longer receive major official updates.
In a recent Reddit post, the developer invited Fujifilm users to suggest features they would like to see. Ideas and reported developments include additional film simulations, snap focus, highlight-weighted metering, customizable white balance, and a film simulation editor.
The feature for EXR Processor 2 cameras so far:

MF Snap Focus
Highlight-weighted metering
More film simulations like ETERNA
Named recipes assigned to C1-C7, saved to SD card as text files so they’re share-able
Film simulation editor (!)
HDMI live view (that I’m hoping to turn into external EVF)
Trying to improve auto-focus but it’s very challenging with old sensor 😐

The project could be particularly interesting for photographers who want to get more out of their existing cameras without upgrading to a newer model.
However, the firmware is an unofficial community project, and the availability and compatibility of individual features still need to be verified. Installing modified firmware can also carry risks, including potentially making a camera unusable.
So my advice: do not install anything and stick with official Fujifilm firmware.
Also, Fujifilm X-A2 shooter Daniel has installed DOOM on his X-A2, as you can see in the video below. He also installed Tetris on an XF1, the forgotten camera that got a Netflix revival.
