Cybersecurity Awareness Month takes place every October to promote online safety and educate the public about digital defenses.

Cybersecurity experts are urging individuals and organizations to stay alert, use strong passwords, enable multifactor authentication and think carefully before clicking on suspicious links or sharing personal information.

As more of daily life moves online, so does the amount of personal information people share and store digitally. And as technology continues to evolve, so do the threats, making cybersecurity more important than ever.

Cyberattacks can happen in an instant, but the consequences can last much longer. Hackers are constantly looking for new ways to exploit vulnerabilities, and cybersecurity experts are urging people and businesses to take steps now to protect sensitive information and stay ahead of evolving threats.

Cybersecurity expert Dr. Christopher Mansour said people increasingly rely on digital technology for both their personal and professional lives.

“We conduct our businesses, our daily lives on digital technology, and we rely heavily on it to run our lives,” Mansour said. “So whenever we are generating data, whether it’s personal information, health information or financial information, this information needs to be protected and it’s very valuable. And bad actors are always after this information.”
