Canton, Pa. — A man convicted of child pornography had two more cases filed against him for the same crimes this week.

Robert Lester Pillot, 50, of Canton was charged with 30 counts of child pornography after authorities searched two cellphones seized on April 10. According to police, one of phones contained a video of Pillot exposing himself to a child.

Cyber tips link Pillot to child porn

Police received a tip from Instagram in November stating an account had downloaded child pornography. Investigators traced the IP address to Pillot, who was convicted of having child pornography in August of 2014.

By tracing Pillot’s phone number, police were able to find his home address. They also learned Pillot was a tier 1 sex offenders in Pennsylvania. The address matched the last one Pillot gave to the sex offender registry.

On April 10, police were granted search warrants for Pillot’s home. Two phones were seized during the raid. Both contained child pornography, including a video of Pillot with an eight-year-old, police said.

More charges filed after search of Pillot’s phone

Due to his tier 1 sex offender status, Pillot is required to give screen names he uses online to police. Investigators discovered six different names being used by Pillot that were not reported.

Pillot is being charged with 20 counts of second-degree felony child pornography, 10 more of first-degree felony child pornography, dissemination of child pornography, making child pornography, and six counts of failure to provide accurate registration information. Judge Larry Hurley denied Pillot bail in both cases.

Pillot was one of six men charged in Bradford County as part of a sting to catch child predators which took place from April 7 to April 11. The other five are:

  • Brad Swink, 40, of Rome
  • Robert Michel, 47, of Wysox
  • Calvin Shaffer, 44, of Wyalusing
  • Evan Hitchcock, 29, of Rome
  • Brandon Lantz, 28, of Athens
