The United Nations’ Human Rights Office has issued a call to action, urging governments worldwide to enforce more stringent regulations on online platforms in order to bolster child safety. The plea, made on Friday, highlights the increasing urgency of safeguarding children in the digital realm.
UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Tuerk, emphasized the critical nature of this issue, stating, “Enhancing protection of children online is an urgent priority that we need to make sure not only gets done – but that it gets done right.”
Tuerk appealed to technology companies to take a proactive stance by embedding child safety measures into their operational frameworks, ensuring a safer online environment for young users.
