Bronwyn Boyle of Cybermindz on Why Psychological Resilience Is Mission Critical

Bronwyn Boyle, CISO and U.K. board member, Cybermindz

Cybersecurity burnout isn’t just a well-being issue, it’s a security vulnerability. “If we’re optimizing our tech stack, we should optimize our psychology stack as well,” said Bronwyn Boyle, CISO and U.K. board member at Cybermindz.

Research shows that burnout among cybersecurity teams introduces measurable cyber risk through higher attrition, increased sick days and impaired decision-making. When professionals are sleep-deprived and stressed, their ability to respond effectively to threats reduces significantly.

“If we’re on the back foot with that in terms of our own psychological state, it makes it that bit easier for attackers to push their advantage home,” Boyle said.

In this video interview with Information Security Media Group at Infosecurity Europe 2025, Boyle also discussed:

  • Why traditional mental health programs fail to gain traction with defenders;
  • The iRest protocol as an accessible mental health tool;
  • Normalizing psychological wellness conversations in cybersecurity teams.

Boyle is on the board of Cybermindz, a not-for-profit group focused on improving mental health and psychological resilience across the security community. She has more than 20 years of experience leading and advising international organizations on cybersecurity and technology. Her background spans technology development, cybersecurity, compliance, data protection, strategy and operations, across a range of organizations from international banks to fintech start-ups and regulatory institutions.
