PARSIPPANY — Unity Bank hosted a fraud prevention seminar for the Lake Hiawatha Seniors this week, bringing lunch and a presentation aimed at helping older residents protect themselves from scams.
Bank representatives walked the group through warning signs of common scams and shared practical steps for safeguarding personal and financial information. Members of the senior group said the seminar offered a lot of valuable, practical advice.
Bank fraud has become a growing concern for older adults, who are frequently targeted by phone, mail and online scams. Seminars like the one held for the Lake Hiawatha Seniors are intended to give residents the tools to recognize and avoid these schemes before they lose money.
Parsippany Mayor Pulkit Desai also stopped by the seminar, sharing a few words with those in attendance.
