A convicted child molester was shot by a woman in Indianapolis, United States, after she walked in on him attempting to rape her 12-year-old daughter in a motel room. The accused, identified as Bruce Pierce, is a convicted child molester who was on the run from the law.
The incident took place in a room at the Baymont Inn on May 24, where the young girl had gone with her sister and grandmother. At one point, the girl was left alone with Pierce in a room while the mother and sister took some items to a car
The family was alerted when the mother of the child heard her child screaming, “No, no, no” from down the hallway, The Sun reported, citing court documents.
After she rushed to the room, the mother saw Pierce allegedly ripping open the young victim’s shirt as he held her down on the bed in an attempt to rape her. The mother said she shot the accused, who she claimed also had a gun in her hand.
Law enforcement initially responded to reports of an attempted rape of a girl at the inn and subsequently discovered the injured man at the scene. Pierce was taken to a hospital to be treated for his injuries.
Meanwhile, the girl was also taken to a hospital to be examined after she claimed Pierce’s gun had hit her. A warrant was issued for Pierce’s arrest, charging him with rape, child molesting, and unlawful possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon.
Pierce had previously pleaded guilty to two different child molestation charges back in 2016. He was listed as a “sexually violent predator” in Indiana’s Sex Offender Registry. He was convicted in February and March 2016 for child molestation.
He had been missing since Tuesday and was last spotted at a local Regal 8 Inn in Indianapolis, according to the report.
