Officials said more university systems and services are coming online each day.
SAN ANTONIO — The University of Texas at San Antonio has shifted its first day of fall classes to Monday, August 24 and provided some resources and updates after “unauthorized activity” was detected on the university’s technology systems.
The university announced campus operations are continuing as scheduled with faculty and staff maintain a normal work schedule to offer assistance to students. More university systems are coming online each day and staff is working to ensure everyone has the resources and support needed to get up and running before the first day.
Officials said University Technology Solutions is working to make the passphrase portal available to students. Students are being asked not to reset their passphrases yet and to wait for additional instructions from the university. One Stop will remain available to help students with enrollment-related needs. UTS is prioritizing network restoration for One Stop frontline staff so they can provide support.
The university announced several changes for students impacted by the outage:
- Tuition payments: The Aug. 19 payment deadline has been extended to 5 p.m. Monday, Aug. 24. One Stop will provide additional information about any other deadlines affected by the outage.
- Financial aid: Refunds will resume as the necessary technology systems come back online.
- Roadrunner Days: Additional activities are being added throughout the week, including a rescheduled date for Late Night at the Rec.
- Parking and transportation: Intersession parking has been extended through Sunday, Aug. 23. Runner transportation shuttles are operating with adjusted service hours.
- Health services: Wellness 360 continues to offer in-person health and counseling services. Virtual appointments may be moved to in-person visits as needed. TimelyCare is temporarily unavailable.
- Emergency assistance: The Student Emergency Fund may provide limited financial assistance to eligible students experiencing emergencies.
The university also announced updates for faculty and staff:
- UTS will continue providing updates and guidance regarding passphrase resets and system access. Check the Technology FAQs for Faculty and Staff for assistance.
- Academic Innovation is working closely with UTS to restore technology in classrooms and other learning spaces.
- Faculty can visit the Academic Innovation Center (MS 240) to get technology and teaching assistance, including the passphrase reset.
Officials said Fall Break, Census Day and the end of the semester will not be impacted by the outage.
