Vallejo school safety employee arrested in connection with assault | #schoolsaftey #kids #parents #children

One person was injured Friday at a high school in Vallejo after a district employee entered campus without authorization and assaulted another individual, according to the Vallejo City Unified School District. In an email sent to VCUSD families, the school district said a site safety employee entered Jesse Bethel High School and became involved in a physical altercation with students, causing school staff to intervene. No district students were injured, the district said. “The safety and wellbeing of our students remain our highest priorities,” VCUSD said in the email to families. “We take this matter seriously and are reviewing the circumstances surrounding the incident, including the actions taken by staff and campus safety procedures.” Officers from the Vallejo Police Department responded to a report of an assault on campus just before noon, according to department records. Police arrested the site safety employee on suspicion of battery causing serious bodily injury, VCUSD said. Vallejo police public information officer Sgt. Rashad Hollis said the man arrested was booked into Solano County Jail on Friday. Hollis said the injured person was a minor but did not provide further details about their condition. He confirmed the minor was not a VCUSD student. The school district did not immediately respond to an emailed list of questions, including whether the campus was placed on lockdown and clarification about the injured person’s connection to Jesse Bethel High. According to VCUSD’s website, site safety supervisors serve as the “eyes and ears” of the school by patrolling campus, enforcing school rules and reporting unauthorized activities. At least one other VCUSD site safety employee has been arrested within the past year involving conduct with students, according to Vallejo police. Officers arrested a 36-year-old school safety supervisor last December after he allegedly solicited sexual acts from a student at Vallejo High School, the Chronicle previously reported. The school district said police are continuing to investigate Friday’s assault.
