A West Palm Beach food delivery driver is behind bars after allegedly driving to a park on Thursday to meet who he believed was a 14-year-old girl for sex.

According to the probable cause affidavit, 44-year-old John Johnson was arrested Thursday evening by Boynton Beach Police at Intracoastal Park after an undercover officer posed as a child and arranged the meeting on the social messaging app MeetMe.

The affidavit states that the conversation quickly shifted to text messaging, where Johnson allegedly requested explicit photos, transmitted harmful material, and explicitly negotiated a meeting for sexual acts.

Police records show Johnson arrived at the designated park around 6:15 p.m. to pick up the child and bring her back to his West Palm Beach apartment. Instead, he was immediately taken into custody by waiting officers.

Authorities say they confirmed that during a post-arrest interview, Johnson admitted to the online communications and the planned meeting, though he claimed he experienced second thoughts just before police moved in.

Johnson faces multiple felony charges, including traveling to meet a minor, solicitation of a minor to engage in sexual conduct, transmission of material harmful to minors, and unlawful use of a two-way communication device.
