While cybersecurity readiness can be difficult to quantify, and the winds of ransomware and deepfakes are ever-shifting, who doesn’t love a list?
The National Cyber Security Index (NCSI) from the e-Governance Academy, a European nongovernmental organization, was created in 2016 to assess countries’ preparedness to prevent and manage cyber events based on a number of measurable indicators. A high ranking on the index doesn’t mean a country is invulnerable to a cyber attack, but instead indicates the chance that a major incident will have a low impact. The NCSI website makes available all criteria and evidence it uses for assessment.
The current ranking has Albania in the top spot with a score of 98.33, with Canada and Estonia tied for second place at 96.67. Finland and Lithuania round out the top five, and the U.S. currently sits in 31st at 84.17.
