Spyware that can infiltrate information from iPhones have been found in dozens of Ukrainian websites.
A study from cyber security sites Lookout, iVerify and Google showed a hacking tool called “Darksword” and spyware “Coruna” were linked to iPhones that visited specific overseas web pages, Reuters reported.
Hackers using Darksword to target iPhones on iOS versions 18.4 to 18.6.2, according to research. Apple officials recommend updating your Apple device to the latest software to “maintain the high security of their Apple devices.”
The spyware tools can steal data, finances and other information from spart devices. Potentially hundreds of millions of Apple products were hacked, although it remains unclear exactly how many devices were vulnerable to the Darksword attacks.
Google also detected Darksword from users in countries such as Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Malaysia and Ukraine.
Cyber attacks in North Jersey
Local governments have been exposed to cyber attacks as early as this past month.
On March 4, Passaic County government offices experienced a malware attack that caused downed phone services. It was not known if any personal information was stolen. NorthJersey.com sent an email request to officials at Passaic County asking if the matter was resolved.
In June of 2023, Montclair offices were hit with a “ransomware” attack but it was unclear if the hacker used or stole data.
