While hacking attacks using artificial intelligence (AI) are spreading beyond the financial sector and across society, the return on exchange-traded funds (ETF) related to cybersecurity is gaining reflective profits.

According to the Korea Exchange on the 13th, the product with the highest monthly rate of return among domestic listed ETFs is “TIGER Global AI Cybersecurity”, with a monthly rate of return of 22.61%.

Amid the recent decline in SK Hynix’s stock price, “SOL SK Hynix Futures Single Item Bus 2X” (22.05%) was ranked second in the yield. It was followed by “HANARO Semiconductor Core Process Leadership” (20.99%), “SOL Semiconductor Sports Process” (18.37%), and “SOL Semiconductor Post Process” (18.35%) in the third place.

This product follows the “Indxx Cyber Security Index,” which consists of the top 40 companies in market capitalization among global companies with more than 50% of cybersecurity-related sales. It is investing in major AI security companies around the world. According to Coscom ETF Check, Octa (10.14%) accounted for the highest proportion of components as of the day, followed by CrowdStrike (7.94%) and Palo Alto Networks (7.51%).

Security stocks are also strong in the domestic stock market. On the 13th, the KOSPI fell 5.46% and the KOSDAQ fell 1.43%. On the other hand, AhnLab, one of the leading security stocks, rose 10.51 percent to 86,200 won despite the downtrend. Most of the security stocks, such as Raon Secure (6.06%), Sands Lab (3.23%), and Genius (2.93%), saw their stock prices rise.

The increase in returns on AI security-related ETF products is analyzed to be due to the impact of hacking attacks using AI throughout society.

In particular, the area of the cybersecurity market is expanding due to the spread of AI. As AI is used for hacking attacks, competition for “AI versus AI” that uses AI for security defense is in full swing. Shim Ji-hyun, a researcher at Shinhan Investment & Securities, said, “Since Claude launched the Mitos model in April, cybersecurity stocks have risen sharply due to constant incidents of infringement caused by AI and agents.”
