JAKARTA – Until now, artificial intelligence (AI) is still considered a double-edged sword, which opens up great opportunities for business actors, but at the same time also presents new threats that are increasingly sophisticated.

In the Ignite on Tour Jakarta event, Palo Alto Networks emphasized the importance of making cybersecurity a part of the organization’s DNA so that businesses in Indonesia can innovate with AI safely.

The global cybersecurity company assessed that the era of agenttic AI makes AI agents now present in all business lines, ranging from customer interactions to backend systems, and from applications to browsers.

This shift creates a new paradox, where AI becomes both an opportunity and an evolving threat to organizations. Attackers are also using AI to launch attacks with greater speed, precision, and scale.

According to the latest research from Unit 42 for example, 25% of the fastest attacks it encountered throughout 2025 reached the exfiltration stage in just over an hour, or down from 4.8 hours the previous year.

Managing Director and Vice President of ASEAN Palo Alto Networks, Haji Munshi, said that on average, organizations currently use 83 security tools from 29 different providers. According to him, this condition actually adds complexity and slows down the response to evolving threats.

“With the ever-evolving surface of attacks, organizations across Indonesia must act now or surrender to attackers who are already moving at machine speed,” he said.

He assessed that the question for organizations today is no longer whether businesses will adopt AI, but rather how quickly they can secure it to become leaders in the market.

Palo Alto Networks is also committed to supporting Indonesia’s future digital security, in line with the government’s push through the National Artificial Intelligence Strategy to increase the use of AI in economic growth.

“With the mandate and direction from the government, including the National Strategy for Artificial Intelligence (Stranas KA) to improve AI for economic growth, our presence empowers Indonesian business actors with the right tools and technology to be able to innovate safely,” he said.
