Judd Trump issued a statement claiming his Instagram account was hacked after explicit content allegedly appeared on the snooker star’s social media account
Snooker star Judd Trump has claimed he fell victim to a social media hack after an explicit Instagram story appeared on his account. Trump, 36, left followers stunned on Sunday when a video of a man exposing himself in what appeared to be a hotel room surfaced on his profile.
The post was swiftly removed before Trump released a statement asserting that his account had been compromised.
The World No.1 wrote: “Just a quick note to let everyone know that my Instagram account was hacked.
“Any images or content posted recently were not posted by me or represent me in any way. Please disregard them while I work to regain control of the account. Thank you for your understanding.”
That statement was subsequently deleted as well.
Trump’s account remains publicly visible, with more than 325,000 followers on Instagram. Screenshots of both posts continue to circulate online.
On the snooker front, Trump has just exited the World Championship at the last-16 stage — a tournament he famously lifted in 2019.
The 36-year-old was beaten by Hossein Vafaei following a dramatic final-frame decider at the Crucible, reports the Mirror.
Earlier this year, Trump claimed the German Masters title, defeating Shaun Murphy 10-4 in the final to secure his 31st ranking title and reinforce his position as world No.1.
Away from the baize, Trump’s personal life has undergone significant upheaval.
In March, the ongoing conflict in the Middle East compelled him to leave Dubai, having previously departed the UK in 2024. “We went to Bangkok,” Trump explained at the World Open in China. “It’s a bit up in the air at the moment. I don’t really think I can go back, just in case I get stuck there. Just kind of looking for somewhere else to live.
“At the moment I’ll just base myself in Bangkok. There’s some good practice there and I’ve been very well looked after. It’s just all a bit play it day-by-day.
“My brother was stuck in Dubai for a little bit so that wasn’t good. Luckily he’s got out now and hopefully things turn around. I managed to practice in Thailand and dedicate myself like I normally would.
“Just trying to make the best of a bad situation. It’s just difficult at the moment because you don’t know where I’m going to be living. Every day is different.
“Just living in a hotel for the last few weeks. It’s not nice to be not at home, not knowing what you’re going to do. I don’t know what I’m going to do after this and stuff like that. Away from the table, just take the positives.”
He subsequently told SportsBoom: “I won’t be moving back to the UK. Maybe I’ll go somewhere different. But definitely won’t be coming back to the UK any time soon.”
