Durham Regional Police have announced the arrest of Manu Sugunakumar, a 23-year-old Durham College employee, after an Internet child exploitation unit investigation into allegations he lured a 12- and 13-year-old girl into sending him child sexual abuse material.
Police would not say whether the man is on a temporary visa or has permanent residency.
In a release Tuesday, Durham Regional Police Service said its Internet Child Exploitation unit executed a search warrant at Suganakumar’s Whitby residence earlier this year, seized electronic devices and arrested him.
He is charged with two counts of luring a person under 16 to facilitate sexual assault, two counts of luring to facilitate sexual interference, and three counts of luring to access child sexual abuse material.
