Hyderabad Police Recover Rs.48.98L, Arrest 36 Cyber Fraudsters | #cybercrime | #infosec


Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Cyber Crime Police Station conducted multiple out-of-state operations following the receipt of several National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal (NCRP) complaints, which led to the registration of 52 FIRs in June 2026.

As part of these special operations, the Cyber Crime Police successfully arrested 36 individuals across five different states in India in connection with 14 distinct cybercrime cases. Through these efforts, a total amount of Rs.48.98 lakh was recovered and refunded to the victims.

An analysis of the nature of these crimes reveals that 22 individuals were arrested for investment fraud, five for social media-related offenses, three for job fraud, and six for matrimonial fraud.

In terms of geographical distribution, 26 of the accused were apprehended from Telangana, four from Maharashtra, two each from Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Delhi. The law enforcement officials also seized various properties used in commission of these offenses, including eight mobile phones, six debit cards, three SIM cards, two cheque books, and a bank passbook.

The standard operational outcomes across different fraud types demonstrate varied scales of financial impact and successful recovery, the police said.
