AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – As students head back to school, agents from the FBI’s Atlanta bureau visited Augusta om Monday to speak to the press about how kids can stay safe while continuing their academic pursuits.
Parents have voiced concerns about school-related safety issues, including internet safety, hoaxes and sexual exploitation.
Marlo Graham, special agent in charge of FBI Atlanta, encouraged students who feel uncomfortable to reach out to a trusted adult.
“We want young adults, young teens, even sometimes preteens, to share with a trusted adult,” Graham said. “So, if you are uncomfortable going to mom and dad and you’re a young student, tell a teacher, tell a friend, tell a friend’s parent, tell an uncle, aunt, a cousin — tell an adult who can help you.”
