Axis Communications, a global industry leader in video surveillance, today announced the upcoming launch of AXIS D2124-VE Radar at the Security Exhibition and Conference 2026, held at the ICC Sydney from September 2 to 4. Designed to deliver artificial intelligence-powered object classification with 360-degree coverage across expansive areas, this innovative device provides reliable surveillance 24 hours a day, seven days a week, in all weather and light conditions. It detects humans up to 140 metres (460 feet) away and covers an area of 40,000 square metres (430,000 square feet).

“We are redefining the future of perimeter and area protection by addressing the real-world operational challenges that security teams face every day,” said Niklas Lindman, Global Product Manager for Radar at Axis Communications.

“Traditionally, securing massive areas required complex, multi-sensor deployments that left critical gaps and burdened security teams with constant manual verification. With AXIS D2124-VE Radar, we are introducing a solution that combines comprehensive 360-degree area coverage with AI-powered object classification to deliver exceptional detection accuracy. By installing this radar with our AXIS Q6225-LE PTZ Camera, organisations can achieve automated visual verification without manual oversight, reducing unnecessary responses and keeping perimeters truly secure,” said Niklas Lindman.

The upcoming AXIS D2124-VE Radar features unique box-shaped detection and recognition zones to simplify coverage planning. Built on ARTPEC-9, this innovative device can be paired with the AXIS Q6225-LE PTZ Camera for enhanced, cost-efficient surveillance capabilities across a massive area. This connection enables visual and radar double-knock verification via AXIS Radar Autotracking for PTZ, providing reliable visual verification with minimal false alarms, completely without human interaction. It also ensures trustworthy alarms with double-knock verification, where both the radar and video must confirm the detection before sending an alarm.

Users can access enriched data from both the radar and the PTZ camera to support better decision-making. In addition, with four integrated dynamic LED strips, the device can be used to deter, warn, or notify, or the lights can be switched off for more discreet monitoring.

Key features include:

  • Human recognition zone of 40,000 square metres (430,000 square feet)
  • Box-shaped surveillance zones for efficient coverage
  • Easy to install and integrate
  • Radar alarm verified by artificial intelligence-powered video classification in AXIS Radar Auto tracking for PTZ

Despite its comprehensive coverage, this radar offers low average power consumption per unit area (per square metre or square foot), with an average draw of 14.8 W to cover the entire detection area. This highly efficient design makes it ideal for off-grid and mobile surveillance trailer installations where energy efficiency is essential. The device supports Power over Ethernet (PoE), and PoE out can power AXIS Q6225-LE PTZ Camera, using an Axis high PoE 120 W midspan, without an additional cable drop.

AXIS D2124-VE Radar is designed to be mounted on sturdy poles, on mobile surveillance trailers, or on rooftops for complete 360-degree coverage. Plus, built-in radar image stabilisation ensures more accurate radar detections when the device is subject to vibrations, making it ideal in windy environments.

As perimeter security threats grow more complex across critical infrastructure, industrial and remote sites, the upcoming AXIS D2124-VE Radar reflects the continued investment of Axis in intelligent, integrated solutions that help organisations move from reactive monitoring to proactive protection. Visitors to Security Exhibition and Conference 2026 can experience AXIS D2124-VE Radar firsthand at the Axis stand, E16, from 2 to 4 September at ICC Sydney.
