Personal information of about 100,000 people registered on an online education site managed by the Anti-Corruption & Civil Rights Commission was leaked. The leak followed a hacking incident at the corporations operating the site.
On the 6th, according to the Anti-Corruption & Civil Rights Commission (ACRC) and others, personal information of about 100,000 users of “Cheongnyeom Gwonik Baeumteo” was leaked.
Cheongnyeom Gwonik Baeumteo is a platform where officials and staff of public institutions and faculty at private schools, as well as related personnel at public-affiliated organizations, receive integrity education online.
The hacking occurred when the server of the company that operated Cheongnyeom Gwonik Baeumteo was breached. The company was found to have kept data without destroying it after a system replacement and was then hacked. The leaked information reportedly includes IDs, passwords, mobile phone numbers, names, gender, and affiliated rank.
The government plans a full survey to determine the cause of the hacking incident and to check the status of data destruction.
