Kuwait International Bank (KIB) announced its collaboration with Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) through a specialized learning experience focused on cybersecurity practices in the financial sector, alongside an overview of modern internal audit practices. The collaboration reflects the importance of partnerships between the banking and oil sectors and their role in developing national talent and fostering a culture of continuous learning, in line with KIB’s commitment to Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) principles and corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives.
The initiative included hosting a number of employees from KPC’s Internal Audit, Risk Management and Information Technology Departments, providing them with the opportunity to gain firsthand insight into KIB’s approach and practical applications in the areas of internal audit and cybersecurity.
Industry sources added that this initiative was hosted at KIB Life Academy, reflecting its role as the Bank’s specialized learning and development platform. The Academy provides an interactive environment that combines theoretical knowledge with practical application, while supporting knowledge-sharing and the development of professional skills. Through KIB Life Academy, the Bank continues to invest in developing talent and fostering a culture of continuous learning, while also extending the benefits of its expertise through collaboration and knowledge exchange with various national institutions.
Commenting on the collaboration, Basil Al-Suwaidan, General Manager of Information Security, Privacy and Anti-Fraud at KIB, said: “Our collaboration with Kuwait Petroleum Corporation was part of an awareness session on cybersecurity practices in the financial sector, reflecting the vital role that both the financial and oil and gas sectors play in Kuwait. KIB’s focus on raising awareness of cybersecurity practices goes hand in hand with its continued support for the “Let’s Be Aware” (Diraya) campaign, launched by the Central Bank of Kuwait in cooperation with the Kuwait Banking Association and with the support of local banks. The campaign aims to promote financial and banking literacy and raise awareness among members of the community.
It is worth noting that KIB adopts an integrated approach to sustainability and social responsibility, focusing its initiatives and programs on areas that deliver long-term impact, including education, training, and capacity building.
