ALLENTOWN, Pa. — Giant’s website and app are down for Lehigh Valley shoppers this week after parent company Ahold Delhaize said Monday it took some systems offline because of a security problem in its network.
The outage reaches every Giant in the Lehigh Valley. Giant’s store locator, which still loads, lists 15 stores in Lehigh and Northampton counties: two in Allentown, three in Bethlehem, two in Easton and one each in Coopersburg, Coplay, Hellertown, Nazareth, Trexlertown, Walnutport, Whitehall and Wind Gap. The stores themselves are open.
“Our teams are working with urgency to investigate the incident and restore affected systems safely,” the Netherlands-based company said in an update first posted Tuesday and revised Wednesday. It said it was “in the process of starting a controlled re-launch of certain systems” but gave no date for when Giant’s site and app would return.
Ahold Delhaize said its brands’ stores in Europe and the United States remain open and serving customers. “The impact of our preventative measures differs per brand,” the company said.
A notice on Giant’s website says unfulfilled orders placed on the website or app will be refunded, and shoppers can still place delivery orders through Instacart, DoorDash, and Uber Eats. It says Giant’s stores, pharmacies and fuel stations are open during normal business hours.

For digital coupons, shoppers can ask employees at checkout or the customer service counter, spokesperson Ashley Flower told The Philadelphia Inquirer. If the app is still down Friday, Giant plans to automatically activate every digital coupon on customers’ loyalty cards, she told the newspaper.

“Although our investigation is still ongoing, we have no evidence at this moment that customer, associate and partner data was taken in this cybersecurity incident,” Ahold Delhaize said Tuesday.
The company said it is working with outside cybersecurity experts and “engaging with the appropriate authorities and other stakeholders as necessary.” It did not say what kind of attack it was, who was behind it or how many systems were affected, saying it would not share details “that could compromise security measures or interfere with our response efforts.”
In November 2024, Ahold Delhaize USA detected what it called a cybersecurity issue in its U.S. network. Five months later, in an April 2025 update, the company said it believed “certain files were taken from some of our internal U.S. business systems” and that it would notify affected people.
Ahold Delhaize also owns Food Lion, Stop & Shop, Hannaford and Giant Food, a separate chain based in Maryland. Giant Food’s website now shows a notice saying its site and app are unavailable.
The company said it will provide more updates “when appropriate.” Ahold Delhaize is scheduled to report third-quarter results Nov. 4.
