ARDMORE, Okla. (KXII) – The City of Ardmore is notifying residents about a recent data security incident that may have impacted personal information of some citizens.
The city said that on April 8, it learned that it suffered a ransomware attack on some internal computer servers. The city does not believe that the attacker had access to all of the city’s internal files and systems. However, the city found out that information about people involved in criminal complaints and investigations was the subject of the attack.
Information including names, addresses and phone numbers may have been exposed.
The city said that servers and databases that store financial information about water billing and other city services are on separate systems, and they were not accessible during the attack.
