What is Snowflake?

Snowflake, the apparent target of the hack, is an online data platform used by a wide array of companies, which lets organisations store, analyse, and share massive amounts of data in one location.
It claims to have more than 12,000 customers, including brands such as the New York Stock Exchange and OpenAI.
Hundreds of concerned customers

As of 11am, more than 400 customers have flagged the issue on Downdetector, which monitors issues with websites and apps.
Many concerned ASOS customers have also posted on social media following the alert.
One user wrote: “Never deleted my payment methods so quick”, while another said: “Nightmarish day in the office today for DevOps engineers at ASOS”.
How will ASOS respond?

The ASOS website and app appear to be functioning as usual at the moment, despite the apparent hack.
However, their share price has dropped around 12.5% since the notification was sent – equating to around £70 million in value.
The online retailer has around 17 million customers in more than 150 countries, and reported revenues of £2.5 billion in 2025.
UK law requires British companies to report any data breaches to officials within three days, and they also must notify any affected people in the case of any “high-risk” hacks.
