Cape Coral teacher arrested on child porn charges; 2,000th child predator arrest since Feb. 2025
LEE COUNTY, Fla. —
Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier announced the arrest of three suspects in child predator cases while speaking with Lee County officials at a news conference on Thursday.
Uthmeier announced that the three new arrests pushed the total number of arrests in child predator cases to 2,000 since he took office in February 2025.
One of the suspects arrested was Graham Freeman, who was a science teacher at a Cape Coral middle school, according to Uthmeier. Freeman had a massive collection of child and animal sexual abuse material.
Special Agent in Charge Eli Lawson with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement in Fort Myers added that Freeman is charged with 10 counts of possession of child porn, which constitute first-degree felonies. Lawson said agents executed a search warrant on Freeman’s home and recovered dozens of files.
Lee County Schools Superintendent Denise Carlin, Ed.D., said that once law enforcement informed her that Freeman was arrested, he was immediately banned from accessing any district building, and that she personally recommended his termination.
“We will not wait for a criminal trial to protect our classrooms and our children,” Carlin said.
The second suspect arrested was identified as Jordan Hall, of Sarasota, according to Uthmeier. Lawson said that Hall traded files containing child and animal sexual abuse online and was responsible for over 120 files total.
The third arrest was of Matthew David Peter, of Zephyrhills, according to Uthmeier. Peter was messaging with what he thought was a 13-year-old girl online and engaged in solicitation, Lawson said.
However, Peter was actually messaging an undercover FDLE agent and was arrested.
Lee County Sheriff Carmine Marceno made his stance on the arrests very clear.
“There is no responsibility more important to me as your sheriff than protecting our children,” Marceno said. “Our children are not just our future; they’re our responsibility right now.”
The officials all emphasized the importance of parents making sure their children are being safe online and being aware of who their children are talking to.
