Cribl Acquires Israeli Cyber Startup CardinalOps to Expand AI Security Platform

U.S. cybersecurity company Cribl has acquired Israeli startup CardinalOps in a move aimed at strengthening its security operations platform with AI-powered detection engineering capabilities.

Cribl develops a telemetry management platform that helps organizations collect, process and route large volumes of security and operational data across their environments. With CardinalOps, the company is adding technology designed to help security teams continuously assess and improve their ability to detect threats.

Founded in 2020 by Michael Mumcuoglu and Yair Manor, both veterans of Israel’s Unit 8200, CardinalOps uses AI to identify gaps in security coverage, improve detection rules and reduce alert noise. The company’s previous ventures were acquired by Palo Alto Networks and Microsoft.

The acquisition comes as security teams face a growing challenge: managing increasing volumes of data while ensuring they can identify real threats quickly. Cribl said combining its telemetry capabilities with CardinalOps’ detection engineering technology will help customers improve threat coverage and reduce the cost and complexity associated with traditional SIEM platforms.

“Too many security teams have good data, powerful tools, and endless alerts, but no real confidence that they are actually protected,” said CardinalOps CEO Michael Mumcuoglu.

As part of the acquisition, Cribl will establish a new office in Tel Aviv, expanding its presence in Israel’s cybersecurity ecosystem and tapping into the country’s deep pool of security talent.
