The Dutch police have announced the arrest of multiple individuals suspected of operating an international investment fraud scheme that may have victimized tens of thousands of people worldwide. The criminal organization is believed to have run 20 call centers with over 700 employees posing as financial advisers, as reported by Bleeping Computer. The scheme, active since at least 2021, allegedly generated over 100 million euros per month by defrauding victims through fake investment platforms. Call centers were spread across multiple countries, with teams using pseudonyms and technical means to hide their identities and locations. The main suspect, a 46-year-old Israeli-Polish national with a history of hacking, was arrested in Poland and extradited to the Netherlands. Dutch and Belgian nationals were also arrested in Cyprus, Greece, and Belgium. The fraudsters built trust with victims over time, convincing them to invest in fictitious opportunities, often through cryptocurrency transfers, and then disappearing with the funds. Dutch authorities have linked at least 550 fraud reports and $28.6 million in losses to this organization, with most victims losing over €10,000.Source: Bleeping Computer
