The federal government has sent a letter to school superintendents across the nation detailing a national initiative launched by the U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights to crack down on sexual predators in K-12 schools.

The letter urges all educational entities that receive funding from the federal government to take their responsibilities in protecting children from sexual preditors more seriously and that compliance monitoring will increase.

The letter, dated July 10 from Secretary of Education Linda McMahon, says the epidemic of nationwide sexual abuse in schools must end.
