A Kansas law firm sued its cyber insurance company for refusing to pay claims after a ransomware attack shut down operations for five business days, seeking more than $75,000 in damages.

DeVaughn James LLC filed the breach of contract lawsuit against Palomar Excess & Surplus Insurance Co. on Tuesday in the US District Court for the District of Kansas.

The firm had purchased a $2 million cyber risk insurance policy for $11,930 with coverage from December 2024 to December 2025.
