The South Carolina Attorney General’s Office said Thomas Hood pleaded guilty Thursday to a count of criminal solicitation of a minor. He was sentenced to eight years in prison and was given credit for over 300 days already served.
Prosecutors said Hood was arrested in February as part of an undercover investigation that involved agencies in the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.
An investigation found Hood was communicating with a person he reasonably believed to be a 14-year-old and spoke about wanting to have sex with her. The AG’s office said Hood then traveled to a predetermined location in Georgetown County with the intent of having sex with the person he was communicating with.
As part of his sentence, Hood must also register as a sex offender.
