A sexual predator was arrested by the Grundy County Sheriff’s Office for failing to register as a sex offender. The Sheriff’s Office determined on June 24th that Jaron Marshall, 37, of Coal City was past due on his sex offender registration. Marshall was scheduled for his annual registration on June 12th. Police officials say Marshall was entered into LEADS – the Law Enforcement Agencies Data System, as being non-compliant.

Marshall was arrested for failing to register as a sex offender after a traffic stop near the intersection of Broadway and North Streets in Coal City on July 4th. He was transported to the Grundy County Jail and released with a future court date.  

According to the Illinois Sex Offender Registry, Marshall was convicted of Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse and other offenses from Livingston County in 2016 and received an Illinois Department of Corrections sentence. Marshall, who has to register as a sex offender for life, was 24-years-old at the time and the victim was 15.
