Director General of Police C.V. Anand on Friday congratulated the Telangana Cyber Security Bureau (TGCSB), headed by director Shikha Goel, along with police commissioners, superintendents and bureau personnel after Telangana emerged as the country’s best-performing state in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO)-led PRAGATI review on cybercrime control.
Anand said the achievement reflected the professionalism, dedication and coordinated efforts of the entire bureau. He expressed confidence that Telangana Police would continue to set national benchmarks in technology-driven policing and strengthen cybercrime prevention through innovation, effective enforcement and public outreach.
Man killed as tractor overturns
A 40-year-old man was killed after the tractor he was driving overturned at Mustikunta in Bonakal mandal of Khammam district on Friday.
The deceased was identified as Tejavath Ramu, a resident of Brahmanakunta village in Penuballi mandal.
According to police, Ramu was transporting electricity poles from Bonakal to his native village when the tractor overturned near Mustikunta. He sustained grievous injuries and died while being shifted to a hospital in Khammam.
He is survived by his wife and two children.
On receiving information, Bonakal police reached the spot and shifted the body to the Government Hospital in Madhira for post-mortem. Further investigation is under way.
Police register case over alleged murder plot against husband
Khammam Rural police have registered a case on the complaint of a man who alleged that his wife conspired with another man to kill him. An investigation is underway.
According to police, complainant Gade Rajeshwar Rao, a native of Chilukodu in Dornakal mandal of Mahabubabad district, lives in Suprabhat Nagar at Yedulapuram in Khammam district with his wife and two daughters. He is employed at a private hospital in Khammam. His wife, Bhavani, is a native of Raghavapuram in Mothe mandal of Suryapet district.
In his complaint, Rajeshwar Rao alleged that he found his wife in the company of Purimetla Saidulu when he returned home for lunch on July 27. He further alleged that Saidulu followed him when he went to Sankela village to discuss the matter with his brother, Gade Srinivas, and fled when confronted.
In the complainant, Rajeshwar Rao also alleged that he found WhatsApp messages on his wife’s mobile phone in which she had asked Saidulu to kill him.
Based on the complaint, Dornakal police registered a zero FIR on August 1 and transferred the case to Khammam Rural police station.
Khammam Rural circle inspector K. Mushkara Raju said Rajeshwar Rao had also submitted a complaint at the Khammam Rural police station, where a case was registered on Friday. He said police were examining the WhatsApp messages and other material submitted by the complainant as part of the investigation.
My Home Bhooja Laddu Auction Winner Booked for ₹3.45-Crore Investment Fraud
A businessman who became a familiar face among residents after winning the prestigious My Home Bhooja Ganesh Laddu auctions for two consecutive years has landed in legal trouble after being accused of allegedly cheating investors of more than `3.45 crore through false promises of high returns.
According to a complaint submitted to the Cyberabad police economic offences wing (EOW), Kondapalli Ganesh cultivated trust among residents of the gated community by portraying himself as a successful businessman involved in wine shops and real estate ventures.
After emerging as the highest bidder in the apartment’s Ganesh Laddu auctions in 2024 for `29 lakh and in 2025 for `51.07 lakh, he distributed the sacred laddu among residents and gained recognition.
Police said Ganesh, along with Boyinapalli Kiran, allegedly approached residents and persuaded them to invest in his businesses by promising returns of six per cent per month, payable quarterly. Investors were shown presentations explaining the proposed ventures and agreements were executed on non-judicial stamp papers to assure them of the investment’s safety.
One of the complainants, a resident of My Home Bhooja, alleged that she invested `31 lakh between October and December 2025 after believing the assurances. Ganesh allegedly neither paid the the promised returns nor repaid the principal amount.
The complainant alleged that at least five other investors collectively invested over `3.14 crore. According to the complaint, Ganesh vacated both his apartment and office by the end of April 2026 and stopped responding to investors.
The complainants suspect that the funds were diverted through associates and benamis and used to acquire properties. The victims have requested the EOW officials to register a criminal case, recover the money, identify and attach properties acquired from the proceeds of the alleged fraud, and initiate legal action against all those involved. Investigation is underway.
Three Arrested for Attempted Murder of Gardener Over Enmity in Yapral
Jawaharnagar police arrested three persons in connection with an attempt to murder case in which a 28-year-old gardener, M. Sudheer Kumar, was attacked with an iron rod over previous enmity in Yapral.
Sudheer Kumar, a resident of Bhagat Singhnagar in Yapral, suffered severe head injuries in the attack on August 6. Police recorded his statement at Gandhi Hospital, Secunderabad.
According to police, Sudheer Kumar had quarrelled with the prime accused, Sandeep Kumar, on August 6. Around noon, while Sudheer Kumar and his brother Deepak were consuming alcohol in Yapral, accused S. Vivek and V. Sumith Raghavan spotted him and informed Sandeep Kumar who went to the spot and attacked him.
Based on a complaint, the police apprehended near Yapral crossroads while they were attempting to evade arrest. Based on their confession, police recovered approximately 30-inch-long iron rod used in the assault and seized CCTV footage from the area as evidence.
25-Year-Old Biker Killed as Tipper Lorry Hits Two-Wheeler in Mallapur
A 25-year-old man, Yeddula Indra Reddy of Shamshabad, died after his motorcycle was hit by a tipper lorry in Mallapur early on Friday. The accident occurred at around 1 am when he was riding his two-wheeler from the LB Nagar Road towards Samshabad.
Police rushed to the accident site, shifted the body for postmortem examination and registered a case. The tipper driver was taken into custody at Balapur police station for further legal action.
Six-Member Burqa-Clad Gang Steals 10-Gram Gold Chain From Jewellery Shop in Tandur
A six-member gang, reportedly including four women dressed in burqas, allegedly stole a 10-gram gold chain from a jewellery store in Tandur mandal of Vikarabad district on Thursday.
The incident came to light on Friday when the CCTV from the shop on the theft was released on social media. The footage showed a gang member reaching for jewellery displayed on a shelf while others distracted the store staff.
The group which also included a man and a child slipped the chain into a bag before leaving the premises. The theft reportedly took place around 1.30 pm but went unnoticed until about 6 pm, when staff reviewed the CCTV footage, police said.
A case has been registered under Section 305 of the BNS. Police are examining the footage to identify the accused, who are currently absconding.
Four arrested for gang rape in Jagtial
Mallial police on Friday arrested four persons for allegedly blackmailing and gang-raping a woman in Jagtial district.
Presenting the accused before the media, Circle inspector M. Rajkumar identified the arrested a Shivarathri Naresh, Gurram Srikanth, residents of Rajaram in Mallial mandal, Maraveni Mallesh of Dharur in Jagtial mandal, and Gurram Anjaiah of Rajaram.
According to police, the woman had gone to visit her relatives in Nukapally on the outskirts of Jagtial on August 3.
The accused allegedly recorded videos of the woman while she was with another man and threatened to upload the footage on social media unless she complied with their demands. Police said they subsequently sexually assaulted her.
The woman lodged a complaint with Mallial police on Thursday. Based on the complaint, police registered a case and arrested the four accused. Further investigation is under way.
Three 13-Year-Old Schoolboys Missing in Medak, Police Launch Search
Ramayanpet police launched a search for three 13-year-old boys who went missing from Ramayampet town, students of the local government school, in Medak district on Thursday night.
The boys were last seen playing together near their homes until around 9 pm on Thursday. When they failed to return home, family members searched for them in the neighbourhood and contacted relatives, but could not trace them.
They lodged a complaint with the Ramayampet police, who registered a missing case and began an investigation. Local residents and others who may have seen the boys are also being questioned.
Officials said that, so far, there is no indication of theft or foul play, adding that no money or valuables were reported missing from any of the boys’ homes.
Malkajgiri Police Launch Phase II of Mee Suraksha–Sahachari Programme to Boost Community Safety
Malkajgiri police commissionerate launched the second phase of the Mee Suraksha–Sahachari programme across all 29 police stations to strengthen community policing through partnerships with self-help group (SHG) women.
According to Malkajgiri police commissioner B. Sumathi, the second phase builds on the success of the commissionerate-wide awareness programme held on July 14, during which more than 3,000 SHG women were trained on women safety, child protection, cybercrime prevention, legal awareness and police services.
Under Phase II, around 2,400 sahacharis have been mapped to the 29 police stations and will work closely with local police teams through regular interactions and exposure visits. The women will be familiarised with police station functioning, emergency response systems, women and child protection mechanisms, citizen services and community policing initiatives to strengthen trust and improve access to police services.
Commissioner Sumathi participated in the programme at Boinpally, where nearly 300 sahacharis joined police personnel in taking an oath to work towards women’s safety across the commissionerate.
Bodies of Two Unidentified Men Recovered in Gachibowli, Nagole
Police recovered the bodies of two unidentified men in separate incidents in Gachibowli and Nagole on Friday, and launched investigations to establish their identities and ascertain the cause of death.
In the first incident, an unidentified man, believed to be aged between 30 and 35 years, was found lying dead inside a culvert beside the ORR service road at Vattinagulapally, Kokapet on Friday evening after police received a Dial-100 alert. Police registered a case and shifted the body for preservation.
In the second incident, Nagole police received a Dial-112 call at around 1 pm on Friday reporting the body of an unidentified man near the Musi River at Gowrelly Musi Bridge. The deceased, estimated to be 18 to 20 years old and around four feet tall, was wearing an ash-coloured shirt and blue jeans. A red waist thread was tied around his waist. The body was shifted to Osmania General Hospital for preservation.
Police said no visible external injuries were found on either body during the preliminary examination.
