Two men arrested in Noblesville after online predator investigation | #childpredator | #onlinepredator | #sextrafficing

During the week of March 23 to 27, the Noblesville Police Department (NPD) carried out a targeted online predator investigation designed to identify and apprehend individuals seeking to exploit minors.

Throughout the week, specially trained detectives posed as juveniles between the age of 13 and 15, and living in Noblesville, in online applications and websites. During this time, numerous individuals communicated with our detectives even after being informed repeatedly that they were interacting with someone underage.

This week’s investigation culminated with an operation Friday whereby two men were arrested after allegedly arranging meetings, and their actions demonstrated intent to engage in unlawful sexual activity with the perceived minor.

“The efforts during this investigation by the Noblesville Police Department, along with vital assistance of the Hamilton County Prosecutor’s Office, are a clear indication that we are actively pursuing those who attempt to lure and prey on children,” Chief Brad Arnolds said. “Let this be a warning that we will be relentless in identifying and arresting child predators so that they cannot harm those that are most vulnerable.”

These two men were arrested and transported to the Hamilton County Jail on the following preliminary charges:

  • Tyler A. Marcum, 26, Noblesville: Child Solicitation, I.C. 35-42-4-6 (Level 4 Felony); and Sexual Misconduct with a Minor (Attempted), I.C. 35-42-4-9 (Level 5 Felony)
  • Gregory A. Carter, 40, Carmel: Child Solicitation, I.C. 35-42-4-6 (Level 4 Felony); Sexual Misconduct with a Minor (Attempted), I.C. 35-42-4-9 (Level 5 Felony); and Neglect of a Dependent (3 counts), I.C. 35-46-1-4 (Level 6 Felony)

A charge is merely an accusation, and the defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
