WELLSBURG, N.Y. (WENY) — A Wellsburg man was arrested after he allegedly sent inappropriate sexual photos to minors on two separate occasions. New York State Police said they launched an investigation after they were alerted by a mandated reporter earlier in June.
According to NYSP, 21-year-old Donavan Smith, also known as Donavan Sutton, sent sexual images to a 12-year-old during Smith’s time as a youth sports coach earlier this month. Police said during the investigation, they discovered Smith did the same with another victim who was younger than 17 during the same time frame.
Smith is charged with multiple crimes, including two counts of Disseminating Indecent Material to Minors, Attempted Use of a Child in a Sexual Performance, Attempted Promoting a Sexual Performance by a Child, Promoting a Sexual Performance by a Child, and two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
Smith was arraigned and sent to the Steuben County Jail, but has since been released on bail. The investigation is still ongoing.
